Where Love Begins

Monday, February 1st - Sunday, February 28th, 2027

Opening Reception: Friday, February 5th, 5pm to 8pm

Love is often imagined as something we seek beyond ourselves—a connection to another person, a family, a partner, a friend. Yet every relationship we build is shaped by the one we hold with the person we have been all along.

Where Love Begins is a reflection on that relationship.

These paintings consider the quiet work of meeting ourselves with greater understanding. They invite us to look beyond judgment and ask whether we can offer compassion to the younger selves who carried fear, uncertainty, longing, and hope. Not because those chapters define us forever, but because they remain part of the story that brought us here.

The women in these paintings are not searching for approval or completion. They occupy moments of stillness—spaces where tenderness can emerge, where acceptance becomes possible, and where love begins not as something earned, but as something freely given.

Presented in the days leading up to Valentine's Day, this exhibition gently shifts the conversation from the love we receive to the love we cultivate. It suggests that perhaps our most meaningful act is not finding someone else who understands us completely, but learning to extend that understanding to ourselves.

Every life contains moments we wish had unfolded differently. Yet healing often begins when we stop turning away from those versions of ourselves and instead choose to meet them with grace.

Perhaps that is where love begins.
